Who Is Instagram?

Instagram is a free photo and video sharing social media app available on Apple iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. The app allows users to upload photos or videos to their service and share them with their followers or with a select group of friends.

WHO IS Shelfari?

Shelfari was a social cataloging website that allowed users to discuss books and build personal virtual bookshelves.

WHAT THEY DO?

Shelfari allowed book lovers to create virtual bookshelves and keep track of what they read. The site also allowed its users to create groups that other members could join, create discussions, and talk about books, or any other topic.

HOW THEY WORK?

Shelfari worked as an online gathering place for readers and book lovers to share information about books.

BEST PRACTICE:

Shelfari "virtual bookshelf" feature helped users see covers of books that they entered, with popups to show the user's book information such as review, rating, and tags.

Users could also edit Shelfari catalog. However, some changes had to be approved by Shelfari librarians.

HISTORY:

On October 11, 2006, Shelfari was launched.

In February 2007, Amazon invested $1 million in Shelfari.

In August 2008, Shelfari was acquired by Amazon.

In January 2016, it was announced that Shelfari was being merged into Goodreads.

In June 2016, Shelfari was decommissioned, and all links were redirected to Goodreads' website.
