Who Is Instagram?

Instagram is a free photo and video sharing social media app available on Apple iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. The app allows users to upload photos or videos to their service and share them with their followers or with a select group of friends.

WHO IS MeetMe?

MeetMe is a social networking service giving people a platform to find new people nearby who share the same interests and want to chat.

WHAT THEY DO?

MeetMe allows you to get in touch with people who are near you so that you can talk with them and set up a meeting.

 

HOW THEY WORK?

To use MeetMe, sign-up for an account or download an application on your smartphone. After creating an account, you get to enjoy the MeetMe features, which include going live with the people you follow, live messaging, and discussions.

 

BEST PRACTICE:

MeetMe has made online meetings between strangers better through their features, such as live video and discussions. You have a chance to know the people you connect with online much better and create a lasting friendship.

 

HISTORY:

In 2005, MeetMe (formerly known as myYearbook) was founded by Dave Cook, Geoff Cook, and Catherine Cook.

In 2006, myYearbook raised $4.1 million from U.S Venture Partners and First Round Capital.

In 2008, it raised $13 million in a Series B round.

In April 2009, the site added the Meebo instant messaging client to provide real-time chat.

In November 2009, myYearbook launched Chatter, a real-time stream that incorporated media sharing and gaming.

In April 2010, the Chatter feature surpassed 1 million posts per day.

In January 2010, myYearbook rolled out a new site design aimed to appeal to an older demographic.

In May 2010, myYearbook launched an iOS and Android mobile app designed to bring the Chatter real-time feed to mobile devices.

In December 2010, myYearbook partnered with Viximo for better gameplay opportunities.

In July 2011, myYearbook was acquired by Quepasa, a Latino social networking site.

In December 2011, myYearbook launched an iPad app.

In June 2012, it was renamed MeetMe.

In October 2016, MeetMe acquired Skout, for $55 million.

On April 3, 2017, the company acquired if9we0 and rebranded it to The Meet Group.

In September 2017, Meet Group acquired the German dating app Lovoo.
