WHO?
ImageShack is a free image hosting service that allows users to save their images online. It has gain popularity as an image store.
WHAT THEY DO?
The platform allows users to upload pictures through the imageshack.us website, or a desktop application.
HOW THEY WORK?
A subscription is required to have full access to all the features ImageShack has to offer.
ImageShack offers considerable reliability and privacy protection to users. User's files are only available to them only and to those people with whom they decide to share their file locations. ImageShack adds three random characters (i.e. "2ct”) to the end of each image.

HISTORY:
In November 2003, ImageShack was launched.
In May 2006, ImageShack had 100,000 concurrent user requests.
In mid-2008, ImageShack began hiding the direct link to images in an attempt to reduce the number of directly linked images since they provide no advertising revenue.
As of November 7, 2013, ImageShack stopped accepting image uploads from anonymous users.
On January 17, 2014, ImageShack was moved from an advertising-based model to a subscription-based model, allowing only premium users to upload images.
In August 2015, ImageShack silently started replacing deleted embedded images with advertising.
In November 2015, the company announced that free accounts would be discontinued on January 31, 2016, if they were not upgraded.
On January 31, 2016, free accounts not converted to paid accounts were deleted after that date.
TIPS:
To ensure compatibility and renaming of uploaded files, use only standard English lowercase letters and numbers. Files with non-standard characters are omitted upon upload. However, original filenames are kept as default titles for all of the images, until you decide to update them.
ImageShack allows only jpg image format, so, all uploads GIFs and PNG are converted to jpg. This helps increase speed and performance on the site. To access files uploaded in another format other than JPG download or use direct links.
