Delicious was a social bookmarking web service founded by Joshua Schachter and Peter Gadjokov.
Delicious role was storing, sharing, saving, managing, and discovering web bookmarks for users.
Delicious used a non-hierarchical classification structure where users could tag each of their bookmarks with freely chosen index terms.
In September 2003, the first version of Delicious was released by Schachter.
In April 2005, Delicious received approximately $2 million in funding from investors such as Union Square Ventures and Amazon.com.
On December 9, 2005, Yahoo acquired Delicious.
On April 27, 2011, Delicious was sold to Avos Systems.
On September 26, 2011, Delicious launched its utterly new version 3.0 design in beta.
On November 9, 2011, AVOS Systems announced that they had acquired the link-saving service, Trunk.ly. Users could save all links they liked on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
On March 2, 2012, Twitter Connector on Delicious was launched.
On May 8, 2014, Science, Inc. acquired the Delicious website from AVOS.
On January 11, 2016, the Delicious blog ownership had transitioned to a new company formed between Science and Domainersuite.
On June 1, 2017, Pinboard acquired Delicious.
