Google Buzz was a social networking, microblogging and messaging tool developed by Google.
Google BuzGoogle Buzz was a tool for social networking and microblogging that Google created and added to their Gmail web service. Users could post and comment on various types of content, such as links, photos, videos, and status updates. These posts and comments formed "conversations" that appeared in the user's inbox.z allowed users to share links, photos, videos, status messages and comments.
Buzz let users decide whether to share their posts with everyone or just a few friends. It also connected with other Google products (e.g., Google Reader) and services like Picasa, Flickr, Google Latitude, Google Sidewiki, YouTube, Blogger, FriendFeed, identi.ca and Twitter. Industry analysts thought that Google made Buzz to compete with websites like Facebook for social networking and services like Twitter for microblogging. Buzz had some features from other Google products, such as the option to "like" a post.
Despite its short lifespan, Google Buzz had some positive effects. It helped to popularize the concept of social sharing in email, and it also introduced some innovative features, such as the ability to "like" posts. However, Google Buzz ultimately failed to gain widespread adoption, and it was discontinued after just over a year.
The reasons for the discontinuation of Google Buzz are not entirely clear, but it is likely due to a combination of factors, including:
