FriendFeed was a real-time feed aggregator created by four former Googlers, Bret Taylor, Jim Norris, Paul Buchheit, and Sanjeev Singh.
FriendFeed was a real-time feed aggregator that consolidated updates from social media and social networking websites, social bookmarking websites, blogs and microblogging updates, as well as any type of RSS / Atom feed. It was created in 2007 by Bret Taylor, Jim Norris, Paul Buchheit and Sanjeev Singh. Users could create customized feeds to share and discuss interesting information with their friends. FriendFeed was acquired by Facebook in 2009 and was shut down in 2015.
FriendFeed was created to provide a Gmail-like experience where people could send messages back and forth to each other quickly. Users could see new updates without hitting the refresh button like it is done on other platforms.
