iReport was CNN 's citizen journalism initiative of newsgathering and storytelling that gave people across the world a platform to share images and videos of breaking news stories.
iReport, just like wikinews allow and encourage ordinary citizens to share news related stories of any kind in form of photos and videos.
iReporters allowed citizens across the globe to take and share pictures and videos they believe are news stories. iReporters helped CNN cover some of the biggest news events. Examples include Superstorm Sandy, devastating wildfires in Colorado and the Israel-Gaza conflict in 2012.
Be aware of the guidelines. CNN iReport has a set of guidelines that all iReporters must follow. These guidelines cover everything from what types of content can be submitted to how to submit content. It is important to read and understand these guidelines before submitting any content.
Be clear and concise. When you are submitting content, be sure to be clear and concise. This means that your content should be easy to understand and should not be too long.
Use high-quality images and videos. If you are submitting images or videos, be sure to use high-quality ones. This means that the images or videos should be clear and in focus.
Be objective. When you are submitting content, be sure to be objective. This means that you should not editorialize your content or present your own opinions as facts.
Be respectful. When you are submitting content, be sure to be respectful of others. This means that you should not use offensive language or images.
Be timely. If you are submitting content about a breaking news event, be sure to submit it as soon as possible. This will help to ensure that your content is seen by a large audience.
