This article addresses the question why Trump was banned from Twitter but the Taliban is allowed to tweet. This August, Twitters standards were called into question after a key Taliban spokesperson was reported to have been giving updates about the group’s advance on Twitter while Trump remains banned from the platform. According to the author, Zabihullah Mujahid’s account has about 280k followers and has been cited regularly by major news outlets in relation to his role as the Taliban spokesperson. He tweeted an update about the military units entering Kabul and some people would not just letting it go without calling out Twitter. A French politician, Jerome Rivierer tweeted, “Freedom and democracy are not doing well when #Twitter continues to ban #Trump’s account but relays the #Taliban spokespersons without any second thoughts.” Fox News sent an email to Twitter in regards to this incident and they did not reply. When Twitter banned Trump from Twitter after Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol, they pointed to a tweet Trump had sent “The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!" Zabihullah Mujahid’s through his account with nearly 280,000 followers tweeted "advance is continuing normally." Referring to the Taliban’s continued sweeping and taking over the country. The Taliban has a history of carrying out attacks and have killed thousands of civilians. The FOX news compared Trump’s tweet that made Twitter boot him from their platform on the basis that his continued presence on Twitter would increase the risk of "further incitement of violence" and then there are Taliban’s with known history of violence.
