Twitter Suspends an Account That Was Allegedly Posting for Former President Trump

This May 2021, Twitter suspended an account that was allegedly sharing posts from former president Trump. The account @DJTDesk was claimed to be posting on behalf of Trump. So, Twitter determined that the account was violating their ban evasion policy, because they shared content affiliated by a suspended account. BBC reported that they have found accounts similar to the one that was banned by Twitter. After being banned from, trump opened his own social media platform, "From the Desk of Donald J Trump.” NBC News states that the bio of the account that was banned read, "Posts copied from Save America on behalf of the 45th POTUS; Originally composed via DonaldJTrump/Desk." Twitter said that, even if they don’t allow accounts to share content from Trump’s new platform, it won’t allow any user to circumvent a ban. This means someone operating an account on your behalf, an account that represents your identity, persona, brand, or business persona for a different purpose. BBC was able to identify 4 more accounts that fall under that category and when Twitter was asked what would happen to the accounts, they did not respond. The accounts were still active during the time of posting. The author adds that it is unclear who is behind the posting but the account owners have said that they are independent of former president Trump.
