In this blog post, the author posted a picture to capture the South by Southwest Interactive conference held in 2007, in which Twitter took the crown home. Abbreviated as SXSW, the South by Southwest Interactive is an annual convergence of music festivals, films, conferences, and interactive media every mid-March in the United States.  Having been officially launched in March 2006, the popularity of Twitter was yet to gain good traction. However, the average Twitter usage per day rose sharply from 20,000 tweets up to 60,000 tweets during the conference.  In fact, the reaction towards Twitter and its use during the event was so high to the extent that the company was eventually crowned with the gala’s Web Award prize. Notably, the 2007 SXSW Interactive event played a huge role in raising the popularity of Twitter among different people. This blog post shows that many people were indeed intrigued by the social lingo supported by Twitter.
