Facebook Takes Down a Widespread Network of Pages Tied to Stephen Bannon, Trump's Former Chief Strategist

According to this article Facebook took down multiple pages tied to Trump’s former chief strategist, Stephen Bannon because of pushing misinformation about voter fraud. The author states that Bannon page was penalized such that he could not post content, but his account was not removed from Facebook. The pages that were taken down had a total following of 2.45 million and was pushing the “Stop the Steal” message. According to the author, this message alleged that the November 2020 elections were a fraud and they were flagged for Facebook by liberal group Avaaz. The incident happened just a few days after Bannon was a permanently banned from Twitter for tweeting that Trump should execute Anthony S. Fauci. The author says that social media platforms have taken extraordinary steps to stop misinformation in the aftermath of 2020 elections, but some groups have continued to gain large followings. Among the pages that were taken down include those of Brian Kolfage, Conservative Values, We Build the Wall Inc., Citizens of the American Republic, American Joe and Trump at War. The author says that Kolfage is a longtime Bannon ally.
