In 1994, Ravi Singh was honored with an Outstanding Leadership Award. While studying at Valparaiso, he became the first Asian American to be President of the largest Lutheran University with a 97% Caucasian population. He was active as A University Senator, Ombudsman, Chairman of the health center advisory committee, and in promoting the values and ethics of the Christian University. He was the first Indian American to Captain an NCAA Division 1 golf team in the USA. He wore his turban on the golf course and was a proud “Valpo Crusader.” Ravi Singh stated, “My time on the golf team at Valparaiso with my teammates was one of the happiest times in my life.”
