For the first time in U.S. history, a a Sikh America invocation at the Republican National Convention. Ravi Singh attends his third national GOP convention. Ravi Singh stated, "I remember when I attended the Republican convention; delgates and attendees asked me if I was a delegate from India, how times have changed." Sikhs lead the opening prayer a first for the GOP and honor to for many Sikh Americans who are often mistaken as Muslims. Ravi Singh stated, "The exposure of a Sikh American on national television will only aide Sikh exposure to Americans across the country."
